Friends of the Library is a nonprofit advocacy organization which supports the Library. Our volunteer members advocate, educate, and raise funds on behalf of the Library, its patrons, and the community.

Join The Friends of the Altoona Public Library!

The Friends of the Altoona Library is a volunteer organization whose purpose is to aid and support the growth and development of the Altoona Library.  Our friends members are local people who are interested in supporting the many ways the library serves the community.

Friends members participate by:

  • Expressing ideas, support and appreciation of the library.
  • Sharing time and talents for library projects, programs and other events.
  • Acquiring equipment and materials beyond the library's budget.
  • Last but not least.......FUND RAISING!


The Friends of the Library are the library's source for adult volunteers at the library. Some of the volunteer needs include:

  • Volunteer Coordinator
  • Grounds
  • Decorating
  • Special Events
  • Summer Reading
  • Fundraising
  • Book Sale
  • Collection Maintenance
