Summer Reading Program

2017 Summer Reading

This summer's theme is Build a Better World.  Here are just a few of the exciting things happening at Altoona Public Library this summer!

To see everything we have built for you this summer, visit our calendar for program descriptions, registration options, and more! Stop by the front desk to pick up everything you need to get started!

Summer Reading Program

Starting June 1st, patrons can sign-up for our summer reading program.  Children, teens, and adults can sign up to win prizes for reading books and getting out in the community this summer. You can register any time beginning June 1.

The reading program will run from June 1 - August 25. We will be hosting a large Reading Rumpus on August 26th for everyone who participated in the reading program.

Summer Sign-up Saturday

Come to the library between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM  on Saturday, June 3rd to visit our open house to see all the cool clubs, camps, and events going on in the area this summer.

You can also sign up for the reading program and help us decorate the Children's Area for this year's summer theme: Build a Better World with Reading! This year, we will be making a model of the library out of wooden blocks. Families who come to the event can decorate blocks to be used in the mini-library!

Build a Better Community BINGO

Children who sign up for the reading club will be given a BINGO card of businesses and locations in Altoona.  Visit those places and you will receive a stamp on your card. Get a BINGO and bring it into the library for a special prize!

Storytime Swim

We are once again partnering with the Altoona Campus to bring you a weekly family storytime at the Altoona Aquatics Center. Storytime Swim will be on Wednesday from 11:00- 11:45 AM starting June 7th. Registration is required for this event.
